We had negative experiences with Financial Planners before, but this was a positive one. We spoke about personal insurance advice that were aimed at ensuring our lifestyle, financial goals and objectives could be maintained if either of us were unable to earn an income due to illness or injury, or suffered a serious injury or illness. Tim assisted us with a comprehensive personal insurance plan, including income protection and critical illness/injury cover (trauma). During July we met with Tim and we completed a personal insurance needs analysis with our adviser. It was agreed we would reduce our cover. Tim advised us to undertake comprehensive medical checks to ensure there weren’t any underlying health conditions that had not yet manifested. My husband I met with our local Doctors and were advised to take an assortment of tests. My tests results were positive, and my Doctor was very happy with me… until the CT Scan of my heart results came back. My Doctor sent me a text recommending I visit the Practice. I am always happy for a ‘catch up’, but was surprised we needed to meet face to face. I have always exercised, don’t drink or smoke, led a conservative and happy lifestyle. The Doctor told me she was shocked by the results and checked them three times to make sure they were my results. She told me that the hardening on my arteries was now at 95%, and we needed decisive and quick action. I was sent home to make an appointment with a specialist as soon as possible. It was four o’clock on a Friday and I spoke with a Receptionist who indicated they would not be able to see me until November. I said I thought my case may be more urgent, and then emailed all my results to her. She said the Doctor would look at them and if necessary they would see me before November. The next Monday Brisbane was in Lockdown and the Cardiologist’s Receptionist called me, and she made an appointment for 9.30am the next morning. Greenslopes was now in lockdown but he said this matter was a priority. We met with the Cardiologist and he booked more tests and gave us a four step plan on how to handle the problem. The diagnosis is Coronary Arterial Disease. Since then I have had an assortment of tests and will have an Angiogram early September, then meet with the Cardiologist a week later to pen a plan of action. I have never taken tablets before, and now have nightly medication. I have never felt any symptoms and the Cardiologist recommended if I did get any chest pain to dial 000. The Local GP and Cardiologist were amazed that the only reason this condition was discovered was due to our Financial Planner suggesting a health assessment. It was a lifesaving moment in my life. The local GP wanted to know what would be my biggest motivator through this, and my response was ‘I wanted to see my grandchildren happily married’. We are now on our way to see this dream come true.
